Sam: The Cat Without a Tail

Sam: The Cat Without a Tail

Sam: The Cat Without a Tail
By Glorida Lintermans
Publisher: Blooming Twig Books
ISBN: 978-1613431207
ASIN: B0727S29LP
Genre: Children’s Picture Book

SAM: The Cat Without a Tail” is a children’s picture book. Sam, the central character, is a Manx cat, and so, sports a soft puff of white fur instead of a tail. This is Sam’s story, his discovery that he is, indeed, different than most cats, his heartbreak over this discovery, and finally, how he resolves these feelings.

More than ever, we need if not an understanding, then certainly a tolerance for diversity. Parents and teachers reading this story with their children can use this it as a springboard to talk about how people come in all shapes, sizes and colors, yet each is wonderful and “right” in their own way.

It is a colorful picture book that is a great conversation starter between kids and parents and teachers about diversity and being accepting of everyone’s differences. There’s no better time to start this conversation than now.

Sam’s story will change children’s lives and teach them to be more accepting and kind to others.

“I highly recommend this book, SAM: The Cat Without a Tail, for the young child in your life. I gave it to my young niece as a gift, and she loved it. She asked to have it read to her multiple times. And having read it myself, I understand why. It’s truly a heart-warming story with a meaningful lesson woven in.” Judy Graybill, International Relationship Coach

“Sam: The Cat Without A Tail follows the trials of Sam, a young Manx cat with a handsome, soft, white puff of a tail. As he discovers that he is indeed different from everyone around him, he learns and helps to teach the importance and beauty of diversity and self-worth.

“An original, entertaining, and thoroughly ‘kid friendly’ picture book specifically written for children ages 3 to 7 by Gloria Lintermans, and charmingly illustrated by Kristina Tosic, “Sam: The Cat Without A Tail” is particularly and especially recommended for family, (child) daycare center, preschool, elementary school, and community library collections.” Children’s Bookwatch

The first day of school is coming… and I’m going to be in the noisy class. Any class but the noisy class will do!
A young girl is about to enter the third grade, but this year she’s put into Ms. Johnson’s noisy class. Everything about the noisy class is odd. While all the other classes are quiet, Ms. Johnson sings and the kids chatter all day. The door is always closed, yet sounds from it can be heard in the hallway. With summer coming to an end and school starting, the girl realizes that soon she’ll be going to the noisy class. What will school be like now?
Featuring the honest and delightful humor of debut author Angela Shanté and the bold, graphic imagery of debut illustrator Alison Hawkins, The Noisy Classroom encourages those with first-day jitters to reevaluate a scary situation by looking at it from a different angle and to embrace how fun school can be, even in nontraditional ways.

About the Author
Angela Shanté is writer, poet, editor, and educator, with a Masters in Elementary Education and an MFA in Creative Writing. She has taught elementary school for ten years. In her own classroom, she believes in having fun, playing games, moving around, dancing, and enjoying the education experience, even if it occasionally gets loud. Angela lives Los Angeles, California.
