Among the shop’s strange collection, Nina finds an extraordinary pocket watch covered in mysterious circles and numbers. Her friends dismiss it as old junk, but when Nina touches it, it comes to life and displays the words: The Watcher has been chosen. The feather-hatted shopkeeper gives it to her with one instruction: “Hands at twelve.” That night, Nina decides to do exactly as he said, mostly to satisfy her curiosity. After all, what’s the worst that could happen?
Nina wakes up in Versailles, trapped in the body of Marie Antoinette. Apparently, she’s been chosen as a Watcher – a guardian of history. With a cryptic clue and no idea what she’s doing, Nina must find four hidden token before the Time Destroyer does and takes control of time. But being a queen who knows nothing about her throne or royal etiquette is hard enough, especially with a scheming countess watching her every move.
She has until midnight to find the tokens without changing history. And when the clock strikes twelve, the portal closes – and so does her chance to return to everything she calls home.
